Our client, a leading provincial organization dedicated to workplace health, safety, and injury prevention, is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Consultant to support enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, regulatory programs, and strategic business priorities.
Working closely with senior leadership, this role will provide strategic communications expertise by developing communication strategies, executive messaging, and engagement plans that help drive organizational alignment and support change initiatives. The successful candidate will translate complex business and technical information into clear, audience-focused communications while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact communications across a variety of enterprise initiatives.
The role supports a diverse portfolio of work, including enterprise transformation, digital modernization, policy and regulatory initiatives, and organizational priorities that contribute to safer workplaces across British Columbia. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans supporting enterprise transformation, regulatory initiatives, and organizational priorities
- Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders and executives, supporting organizational alignment and informed decision-making
- Develop key messaging, communication frameworks, and executive narratives that simplify complex business and technical concepts
- Prepare executive-ready communications including briefing notes, presentations, speaking notes, reports, and strategic updates
- Coordinate communications activities across multiple concurrent initiatives to ensure consistency, alignment, and effective sequencing
- Develop internal awareness campaigns, engagement strategies, and change communications that support organizational adoption and readiness
- Draft, edit, and review communications across multiple channels while maintaining consistent messaging, tone, and editorial standards
- Support leadership workshops, meetings, and stakeholder engagement activities through content development and coordination
- Monitor communication effectiveness using feedback, analytics, and engagement metrics, recommending improvements where appropriate
- Mentor communications team members and promote communications best practices across the organization
- Provide responsive communications support for emerging priorities and executive requests within a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of experience in strategic communications, corporate communications, public affairs, or marketing within large, complex organizations
- Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and executives on communications strategy and organizational messaging
- Proven experience developing communication strategies that support enterprise transformation, organizational change, or regulatory initiatives
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging communications
- Experience preparing executive briefings, presentations, speaking notes, reports, and strategic communication materials
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Experience supporting change management and employee engagement initiatives
- Familiarity with digital communication platforms including SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, intranet platforms, and communication analytics
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, facilitation, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting public sector, government, healthcare, insurance, or other highly regulated organizations
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide transformation, digital modernization, or service transformation initiatives
- Knowledge of organizational change management principles and communications best practices
- Experience using communication metrics and data to evaluate effectiveness and inform communications strategy
