Job Title: Senior Cloud Platform Developer
12-month contract | Hybrid in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area | Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa
Our client is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Developer to help design, build, and evolve a modern cloud-native platform with a strong focus on developer experience, reliability, and automation.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will operate as a senior individual contributor, working across Kubernetes, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code to deliver scalable platform capabilities. You will play a key role in embedding observability, governance, resilience, and cost efficiency into core systems, enabling product teams to deliver software faster and more safely.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a senior individual contributor within the platform engineering team, delivering high-quality cloud-native solutions.

Design and implement platform capabilities using Kubernetes, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support efficient and reliable software delivery.
- Implement observability, governance, and automation frameworks to ensure system performance, reliability, security, and compliance.

Define and promote best practices for GitOps workflows, Kubernetes automation, and infrastructure management.
- Ensure platform systems are resilient, cost-efficient, and optimized for performance.
- Contribute to architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, and technical discussions.
- Mentor team members and contribute to overall engineering excellence.
- Participate in operational readiness activities, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
-
5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles.

Strong programming experience in Python, Go, or C#, including building automation systems, controllers, or operators.

Deep understanding of Kubernetes, including controller-runtime and composition frameworks.

Hands-on experience with GitOps practices and tools such as ArgoCD.

Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.

Experience building or supporting data platforms (e.g., ETL pipelines, streaming, batch processing, or MLOps systems).

Strong understanding of system performance, cost optimization, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver projects end-to-end.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and influence decisions.
Nice to Have

Contributions to CNCF open-source projects (e.g., Kubernetes, Crossplane, ArgoCD, Prometheus).

Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals, including CRDs, API machinery, and control plane development.

Experience operating platforms on Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Familiarity with advanced Kubernetes scheduling tools (e.g., Karpenter).

Experience with observability and distributed tracing tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
