Job Title: Enterprise Architect

6-month contract | 100% Onsite in Downtown Vancouver | Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa


Our client, a global leader in ship management and maritime services, is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to shape the organization’s long-term technology strategy and drive alignment between business priorities and technical direction.

As a senior architectural leader, you will guide enterprise-wide solution design, strengthen architectural governance, mentor technical teams, and support modernization initiatives across a complex global environment. This role requires deep architectural expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence decisions at both strategic and technical levels.

This is a fully onsite position located in downtown Vancouver, working closely with internal teams and business leaders.

 

Responsibilities:

Architecture Strategy & Governance

  • Develop, manage, and evolve the organization’s enterprise architecture, including supporting solution architectures and governance processes.
  • Define architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices to guide technical decision-making.
  • Lead architectural reviews and ensure solutions align with long-term strategy, performance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain oversight of solution integrity throughout design, development, and implementation stages.

Technical Leadership & Solution Development

  • Work with engineering teams, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into well-structured, technically sound solutions.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions for feasibility, scalability, maintainability, and architectural alignment.
  • Guide and oversee system design activities, including modernization efforts, enterprise integrations, and service consolidation.
  • Produce architecture documents and artifacts that are scalable, secure, modular, and adaptable to evolving needs.

Research, Innovation & Advisory

  • Conduct ongoing research on technology trends, platforms, and tools; identify opportunities to enhance systems and maturity.
  • Advise business groups on long-term technology implications, platform direction, and architectural impacts.
  • Recommend innovative technical and business approaches based on deep cross-domain architectural expertise.

Planning, Delivery & Communication

  • Partner with project managers to estimate effort, resource needs, and delivery timelines.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on key architectural decisions, challenges, risks, and accomplishments.
  • Lead and participate in design and technical reviews to ensure adherence to architectural principles.
  • Communicate architecture roadmaps and strategies clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Areas of Expertise

  • Highly distributed and large-scale system architectures
  • Microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • High-performance, resilient, and scalable system design
  • Cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern infrastructure environments
  • Containerization, orchestration, automation, and platform engineering
  • Enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and messaging frameworks

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressively senior experience in enterprise architecture across complex, multi-system environments.
  • Deep experience with distributed architectures, microservices, cloud environments, and containerized systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide multiple projects while ensuring architectural alignment.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to translate business strategies into actionable architecture roadmaps.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or professional certifications (TOGAF, Zachman, Azure Architect, etc.).
  • Experience in maritime, logistics, industrial, or mission-critical operational environments.
  • Track record of leading modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
