Job Title: Intermediate / Senior Hardware Engineer

Contract-to-Hire (6-month contract) | Hybrid in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area

 

Our client is a long-established, full-service product development firm with over three decades of success across North America. The company provides multidisciplinary expertise spanning electronics, PCB, firmware/software, mechanical, and industrial design. Their integrated team supports clients in the medical, industrial, and consumer sectors, delivering complete product solutions from concept through to production.

We’re seeking an Intermediate or Senior Hardware Engineer with deep PCB layout expertise. You’ll lead the design of complex electronic systems, focusing on high-speed digital boards, multi-layer PCBs, and projects with large component counts. Your work will directly impact product performance and reliability across a variety of industries.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the PCB layout of high-speed digital designs, including 8–12 layer boards with >1000 components, using Altium Designer
  • Create and review schematics and design PCB footprints and symbols
  • Conduct hardware prototyping, assembly, and troubleshooting
  • Participate in high-level system design and project planning
  • Develop and execute design verification and validation test plans
  • Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to design standards
  • Collaborate with internal and client teams to ensure project success

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of hardware design experience, with a strong focus on PCB layout in Altium
  • Proven experience with high-speed digital designs, multi-layer boards (8–12 layers), and complex designs >1000 components
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using standard lab equipment
  • Experience or exposure to issue tracking tools such as Jira
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility is an asset
